Bush, fading from the picture

With all the hoopla surrounding these debates that have gone on this week, I think that Bush is slowly fading from view. In fact, no one gives much attention to him anymore at all. We are all focused on who is going to replace him once he is gone!

I didn't watch the Republican debate, but I heard that Bush was only mentioned one time. Which, actually that even suprises me. But obviously, no one wants to be associated with him.

Oklahoma Looses A Great Advocate

Keith Smith, progressive lobbyist, died this Monday at 51. I am so shocked and saddened at this news. Though I had only met him a few times at different fundraisers and/or meetings, I did not know him, except by reputation and was always very impressed and awed at his seemingly tireless efforts to bring some "blue" into this red state in which we live.

Women in Oklahoma have so much to thank him for. He fought against every anti-choice bill that came up in the legislature, and in the past several years that has been up to 30 or more a session. His commitment to choice is incredible.

He founded the Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus and has been instrumental in several other organizations, such as the Progressive Alliance and the Central Oklahoma Stonewall Democrats.

Obituary from the Tulsa World.

Keith, you will be missed. Oklahoma has lost a hero.

Election Day High!

Yes, it's true. I am still on an election day high! I am so excited that the Dems have taken the House and now, YES IT'S TRUE, the Senate!! Yay! :)

Rumsfeld is leaving! Bush is eating crow! It is a wonderful, exciting world!

Get OUT and VOTE!

Well, the polls were so busy this morning that I didn't vote yet. I will have to when I get off work. At least people were out voting. That makes me happy.

I talked to M's mom and she wants M to spend Friday night with us. Yay! That will be fun. K is supposed to be at his dad's house, but we will see as the week progresses if that actually happens.

I need to call Tina and Helen. We had talked about getting together and having dinner or something sometime this weekend. The kids would have fun if we got together.

I need to totally overhaul the house. There is so much stuff that needs to be gotten rid of. It must be done. I have Friday off for Veterans Day. I will start then. I also need to fix the plumbing in one of the bathrooms. I am dreading that. I hate pulling off that pipe and seeing what oozes out in the pan. *gag*

Pending Elections

Ok... I am almost a-twitter with pre-election anxiety! Ugh! I cannot wait for Tuesday night to be over so that the returns are in and we have some results and this maddness can be over!

I am starting to worry about the Dems lack of urgency and hoping that they (we) can muster enough spirit to make it to the polls. I fear that we won't 'go in droves' as we have been led to believe and all the faith in our party will just be futile.

I don't, however, believe that most of the Dems really deserve our vote. They don't seem to have any type of message or plan, other than they are a change from the Repubs. But what does that get us?

I am very dissolutioned with both parties and wish that were were more like the UK or AU or Europe... with multiple parties. Yes, we have more than 2, but nothing substantial. It is time for our party system to change.

With that... I await tomorrow night.
